Suchik House is a charming place in a quiet "suburb" of Ubud. There are actually a few houses for rent--long or short term--on the property. The nicest is "Del's Hpuse" but it wasn't available for rent during our stay. The upside was that friendly American Del was in residence! He lives there about half the year. One day he surprised us with home-baked scones, just because he's so nice!
Suchik's family, who own the property, also are super-friendly and helpful. And if you need a driver, for a shopping trip in town or for all day, I couldn't recommend Kadek Cenik more highly. Kadek also lives on the property and his car is there, so it's very convenient. Kadek speaks great English and helped make our visit a success! He even took us to Tanah Lot temple to see the site and to pray like a Balinese (our prayer was answered, by the way!)
There are two restaurants (small ones but they have both western and Indonesian food and a French lady who lives down the road a short walk will prepare a meal if you book in advance.
